Sustainable Communities
Create a proposal for a sustainable intervention in your school or community.
In a world of fake news, climate change and corporate greed, what will it take to shift our thinking to a more sustainable future?
Students will interrogate the idea of sustainability, learn about the ‘three pillars’, and turn their sights to a project that they could implement in their own schools, neighbourhoods, or backyards. Working in teams they will respond to a brief based on one of our exhibitions, or a current unit of study, and work through a design thinking sprint to develop a proposal for a sustainable intervention for their community.

What doesn’t sustainability work with? Really, take your pick.
However… extending the session with an additional Make it Work Design Thinking module (or two) is a great way to give your students more space to flesh out their ideas. Throw in an On Message session and let your students think about how they might communicate their ideas, market them, or advocate for them in their communities.
