Our Academic Engagement team catalyses and co-delivers partnered interdisciplinary opportunities for teaching, learning and research that engage the University of Melbourne community. We support students and academics across all disciplines and Faculties to spark deep inquiry through curricular and co-curricular activities and collaborations.

Students engage with our Academic Engagement Team in multiple ways, contexts, and depth including: 

  • Curricular and co-curricular engagements with exhibitions and programs

  • Bespoke multi-disciplinary/multi-cohort engagements co-developed with academic colleagues

  • Opportunities to connect with museums and collections-focused experts (including Museum and Collections staff, and participating artists/collaborators)

  • Research-driven projects

  • Internships, residencies, and fellowships

  • Exploration of the architecture and physical spaces of the gallery

  • In-person and virtually

Teaching facilities are open on demand for Academic Engagement, in consultation with the Academic Engagement team.

Blackbox Theatre

  • UOM teaching lectern system

  • Web Conference (Zoom/Teams) enabled venue - use the Teaching iMac for integrated web conferencing

  • Single Projector, Motorized Projection Screen

  • Hand-Held Mic, additional Lapel mics (x3) available from BioBox

  • Standing room capacity (approximately 200pax)

  • Seated capacity – lecture style (approximately 100-150pax)

  • Seated capacity – dining/food service a tables (approximately 100pax)

Paccar Theatre

  • AV Keypad, User Laptop HDMI connection cable (w/ adaptors) Wireless AV Presenter positioned the AV Rack behind wall door

  • Fixed Projection (onto wall)

  • Hand-Held Mic - stored and charged in Black Box BioBox

  • Seating capacity — 90-100pax
