Another Dimension
Learn the fundamentals of 3D modelling and create an artefact for 3D printing.
When we think about 3D printing, we often think about small plastic toys and knick-knacks. But have you ever thought about 3D-printed food? What about a 3D-printed bridge? house? or boat? …what about 3D-printed body parts or organs?
Students will explore the incredible applications of 3D printing and manufacturing technologies, and the implications this growing market has on our day-to-day lives. They will take this new knowledge and prototype a series of their own 3D artefacts, learning the fundamentals of 3D modelling, from abstract shapes to intentional designs.
What we can create is entirely up to what you want to get out of the session; students can respond to a prompt based on any one of our amazing exhibitions, other modules, or from an area of study they’re investigating back at school.

While this module can be run as a completely self-contained project, it’s made even better by taking on the themes and knowledge of any of our other tours, modules, or even the units that your students are exploring in your subject back at school.
If you’re looking for recommendations though, we would suggest using one of our MENTAL, or SWARM tours as a jumping off point.
