Artist-Led Sensory Play + Relaxed Hour

Join Portal lead artist, Prue Stevenson and members of the Rawcus Ensemble for a participatory workshop exploring sensory profiles through engagement with Portal. Prue and Rawcus Ensemble Members will present this playful and informative offering for diverse audiences. All levels of interaction are welcome and supported in the space.

Low-sensory time at Science Gallery Melbourne: 3pm to 5pm.

Structured workshop time: 3:30pm to 4:45pm (Auslan Interpreted).

Questions/soft ending: 4:45pm to 5pm.

Structured workshop will run for 75 minutes. There will be a 'soft' ending with time to ask the artists questions at the end of the workshop in the final 15 minutes. Science Gallery Melbourne will be in low-sensory mode from 3pm-5pm. The workshop will be Auslan Interpreted.


Prue Stevenson is an artist who aims to celebrate and progress autistic culture for autistics, while creating experiences that are more broadly accessible to all. She uses repetitive and tactile processes to allow for experiences of sensory play and to creates spaces for downtime. Prue is member of the Rawcus Ensemble, 3rd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo and founder of Stim Your Heart Out.  

Rawcus is a critically acclaimed long term ensemble of 14 performers with diverse minds, bodies and imaginations. For over 21 years the company has been creating audacious performances and arts experiences. The Rawcus Public Program is a curated program of offerings that are created through on-going conversations between the Rawcus Ensemble and diverse range of artists and communities. This program is responsive to time and place, and is expansive and varied in form, scale, timeframe and audience.
