As the gateway to Melbourne Connect, University of Melbourne’s innovation precinct, Science Gallery Melbourne includes over 3500 sqm of cutting-edge, immersive exhibition and learning spaces, designed by William Smart at Smart Design Studio. Part of the University’s Museums & Collections department, Science Gallery Melbourne champions an interdisciplinary approach enabling interaction and connectivity between young people, supporting STEAM futures.

Science Gallery Director, Rose Hiscock said:

“Smart Design Studio has a track record for creating innovative, highly expressive architectural projects.  The iconic White Rabbit Gallery and the multi award-winning residential project Indigo Slam are exceptional architectural projects that are in themselves expressions of scientific and artistic excellence.”

Smart Design Studio was founded in 1997 and has worked on a diverse range of award-winning design projects in the public and cultural domains, including multi-unit residential developments, private residences and commercial and retail spaces.

Creative Director of Smart Design Studio William Smart said: “

Open and connected, SGM will invite visitors to an experience that is at once playful and contemplative; to engage deeply or just hang out. This gallery will be inspiring and delightful, a canvas on which to write a new story of science colliding with art and innovation.”
