Future Transport

Explore the future of connected, autonomous transport.

How do you feel about Electric vehicles? Driverless cars? How could we connect a vehicle to a satellite? …and why would we do that?

Just as technology progresses and gives us new ways to connect and work autonomously on our personal devices, so too does it open up a huge and exciting world for our future transport. Imagine a fleet of self-driving vehicles, all connected and sharing information like directions, traffic, speed, fuel… now what if they could also check up on you? Let you know when you’re looking tired? Direct you to the next food stop if you’re looking hungry?

We invite students to join us, and our Industry Partners, PACCAR, as we explore the ‘short and long’ future of road transport in Australia. Delving deeper into the idea of a digitally ‘connected truck’, students will work together to design a connected system display that will help drivers safely and sustainably reach their destinations.

+ Students will…

Watch a presentation from our Industry Partners, PACCAR, exploring the role of STEM in manufacturing, logistics and sales.

In discussion, explore what a more sustainable, digitally ‘connected’ transport system might look like in the future.

Speculate on the personal, ethical and sustainable implications of connected, autonomous transport.

Take the role of ‘transport engineers of the future’ to design, program and navigate a series of traffic solutions using programmable robotic vehicles.
