Students: Get Your Work On The Digital Bricks With BrickTok

Virus one million times, Drew Berry, in SWARM exhibition (2022).

Imagine having your video displayed on some of the highest resolution screens in the Southern Hemisphere. Now’s your chance!

BrickTok is a competition where University of Melbourne students can show off their creative digital storytelling skills by creating a short story or presentation in the form of a 90-second or 180-second silent video, with the opportunity to be displayed on the Digital Bricks. This innovative award-winning media architecture at Science Gallery Melbourne involves over 200 LED screens placed behind glass bricks and is a bespoke design for the gallery. With the largest combined pixel display in the Southern Hemisphere, this living prototype explores what would happen ‘if these walls could talk’.

Inspired by Science Gallery Melbourne’s exhibition BREAK THE BINARIES, entries to the competition should highlight innovations that bend, blend, blur, or break society’s binary codes and may utilise live action, hand-drawn images, stop-motion, 2D or 3D animation.

Thanks to Chartered Accountants ANZ, one winner will receive a $1,000.00 Mastercard gift card and selected entries will be publicly displayed on the Digital Bricks at the entry of Science Gallery Melbourne, during April 2023.

Submission deadline is 10 March 2023, 1159 pm AEDST
