Distorted Constellations

Nwando Ebizie

How much can we trust our perception of reality?

All brains are unique. Enter this beautiful immersive sensory labyrinthine environment and experience an augmented reality interpretation of Nwando’s perception of the world. She has a rare neurological syndrome known as visual snow, which causes her to see additional visual effects of auras, dots and glowing lines. The work defies the idea of a 'normal' brain in favour of understanding reality as a subjective experience within a wider spectrum. This work was developed with neuroscientists, technologists and ritual artists. Contribute to the growing body of research by participating in the survey via the QR code.

Does the blue sky on a clear day look staticky or fizzy to you?

Nwando Ebizie is a multidisciplinary artist whose work converges around performance art personas, experimental theatre, neuroscience, music and African diasporic ritualistic dance. She has created her own strand of afro-futurism wherein she combines research into neuroscience, inspired by her own neurodiversity, and an obsession with science-fiction and ritualistic live art practice, seeded in collaborative and participatory processes.
