Did I just hear my phone?

The iPhone ding is iconic. Sometimes real and sometimes in our heads, it’s a sound that is immediately recognisable. It tears our focus from the task at hand and sends us down the spiral of wondering who might have messaged. Notifications are carefully crafted by sound designers to interrupt surrounding noise and be pleasant to the ear. Riffing off their melodic origins, what if the distinctive dings were reimagined as a musical instrument? Sit down and strike a new sort of chord with re-tuned iPhones taking the place of piano keys. These notes form the distracting soundtrack of our days - see what happens when you push back.

What makes you pick up your phone?
