Sessions: Tuesday to Friday at 11am-2:15pm (with a 45min lunch break)

Duration: 1.25 hours (one module)

Capacity: 50 students (minimum 20 students)

Cost: $15 per student plus an Education Service Fee for each booking. For groups of 1-15 it’s $50, for 16-30 it’s $75 and for 31-60 it’s $100.

We have limited Schools Access Program funding available for low-SES (ICSEA <1050) and regional schools to access a discounted rate of $8 per student (plus the Education Service Fee above). Access funding is limited, so please note in your booking request form and our team will confirm if remaining funding is available for your school to access this discounted rate.  

From bringing back the thylacine from extinction, growing organs in animals for human transplantation, and replacing nature with technology – scientific advancements present a world of possibilities – but is it a world we want for ourselves? Ethics plays a huge role in shaping what science gets done, and in this workshop, we’ll consider the potential futures and unintended consequences for a range of real-world bioethical dilemmas. In groups, students will imagine what the world of tomorrow could look like by creating a visual timeline of possibilities, and as we’ll explore, when it comes to science and ethics, it pays to expect the unexpected.

  • Complete a ‘Futures Wheel’ (a visual timeline) to explore the unintended consequences of scientific and technological events.

    Learn about real-world examples of science and technology projects, including those featured in the current exhibition.

    Informally engage with university students – who make up our facilitator team - and learn about diverse post-school pathways.
