Science Gallery Melbourne opens to the public mid 2021

Four years in the making, Science Gallery Melbourne’s permanent home finally opens to the public in mid-2021

Since 2017 Science Gallery Melbourne has been creating exhibitions and programs across the city. From a historical gymnasium to the Melbourne School of Design at the University of Melbourne, to an underground carpark, a shipping container, the Maribyrnong and Yarra rivers, and city laneways, streets and public gardens. And now, it’s time to come home.

It's nearly time to head inside Science Gallery Melbourne. Doors open to the public June 15. Hear from Rose Hiscock and Ryan Jefferies for some more insight ...

Two exhibitions per year will take place in the purpose-built gallery on the corner of Grattan and Swanston Streets. Science Gallery Melbourne will be gateway to the University of Melbourne’s new Melbourne Connect innovation precinct, the best landlords ever. Visitors will enter through the innovative, permanent media installation: the Digital Bricks.

This will be a space for all the incredible stuff that happens in the space between art and science: experimentation, collaboration, prototyping, creativity, dark matter - all matter of things. Following in the footsteps of the Science Gallery Network - with 8 different locations across the globe - 15-25-year-olds will be at the heart of all programs and events. Find out more about how young people drive our programs and events by meeting our Sci Curious committee and our Mediators, who are unlike any science communicators you’ve met before.
