WHAT IS A LEF?

A Learning Experience Facilitator (or LEF) co-creates and facilitates impactful and engaging STEAM learning programs for primary and secondary students. As an integral part of Science Gallery Melbourne Learning Team, the role is designed so that students who visit these cultural spaces can learn peer-to-peer from another young person who is engaged in university study or has lived experience in the STEAM, Visual Arts or Humanities disciplines. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander team members facilitate these programs as well as the Indigenous Learning Program.

LEFs are a critical part of Science Gallery Melbourne as an organisation dedicated to engaging young people in transdisciplinary approaches. We aim to inspire students to think about STEAM careers they may never have considered before, and to excite them to learn and discover new things. You will lead and guide groups of students in a joyful, safe and inclusive way - whether that’s an interactive exhibition tour or hands-on workshop. This role offers great opportunities to gain a wealth of professional development experience, and join a fun and welcoming team!
