STEM Holiday Workshop for Young People - Auslan & English

  • Science Gallery Melbourne The University of Melbourne Parkville, VIC, 3010 Australia (map)

Young people are invited to Science Gallery Melbourne these school holidays to experience a hands-on STEM workshop delivered in both Auslan and English.

Delivered by a team of facilitators in both Auslan and English, this workshop is a fun hands-on experience suited to D/deaf and Hard of Hearing young people, along with their siblings.

Join us to make creative tactile circuits using basic block coding and the most unlikely materials! Your challenge will be to use Makey Makey kits and Microsoft MakeCode Arcade to design a fun, interactive video game.

Please note the following:

  • All participants, including siblings, must be aged 10-17 years old.

  • Hearing siblings and CODAs may attend.

  • Children must be dropped off in-person by their parent or caregiver on the day and they will be asked to sign a consent form allowing their child’s participation. Once the workshop has begun, parents and caregivers are not required to stay in the workshop but are asked to remain in the vicinity of Science Gallery.

  • The closest parking is Ace Parking in Cardigan Street, Carlton.

  • The closest Tram is Stop 1 on Swanston Street.
