Join us for a speculative algal bloom of ideas!

With the COVID-19 pandemic sparking many DIY projects, lockdown life is also making us rethink how we live our lives more sustainably. Seaweed could be the answer!

Join a two-part workshop series focusing on bioplastics and algae, presented by Seaweed Appreciation Society International (SASI). Debuting on Science Gallery Melbourne’s Youtube channel on Saturday 15 August, you’ll be invited on a field trip to another world - from the safety of your own home. In this alternate seaweed reality edible algae bioplastics are mixed up alongside refreshing seaweed cocktails. Subscribe to Science Gallery Melbourne to watch for free!

By speculating on a radically sustainable seaweed future, we will be asking if biomutualism can play a part in our everyday lives. A radical sustainable seaweed intervention has never felt more urgent.

SASI’s Lichen and Jessie will also do an Instagram Live Q&A session to answer all your bioplastics questions during National Science Week.
