EMERGENC(Y) Tour

Details

Available: Terms 3 – 4 (Jun – Dec)

Levels: Year 7-12

Capacity: 50

Duration: 1.25 hours

In this facilitator-led experience, students will be guided through the EMERGENCE(Y) exhibition.

EMERGENCE(Y) springs forth in response to a rapidly changing world. As we enter a future troubled by global crises, humans and non-humans must adapt in order to survive in the face of climate change, health challenges and displacement. Looking forward, back and all around, how might we change in response to the dramatic shifts occurring on this planet we call home, and within the bodies we inhabit? Will we refashion a new way of living, or will we abandon ship? As the future (b)looms, the environment - and ourselves - will look drastically different. Cities are growing and densifying, natural landscapes are shrinking. Will we re-wild? Re-create? Re-emerge into a new world? Surviving and thriving is the goal, how are we going to achieve it?

Using their deep knowledge of the exhibition, Learning Experience Facilitators will introduce students to the key concepts and ideas, such as speculative futures, through group discussions and activities, prompting students to think critically about the works.

Key Themes: climate crisis, urban environments and cities, species survival, adaptation, consumption, resilience
