WORD OF MOUTH

Zeth Cameron

Where did you learn to speak like that?

Our voices are incredibly flexible. We can change our tone, lower our pitch - even fry our vowels. But how far can we take vocal manipulation? Maybe it's time we start thinking outside the (voice) box.

Word of Mouth taps into this connection between identity and voice, self and other. Throughout our lives we all train our voices to express our identity and gender. Our voices are shaped by societal expectations, the media we consume and even our friends and family. Push the boundaries of your own voice with the help of digital distortion and Zeth’s vocal exercises – at what point do you start sounding like someone else?

Do you like what you hear?

Zeth Cameron (they/them) is a 25-year-old emerging installation artist interested in mixing media and moods as a form of audio-visual intervention. Their practice is grounded in their experiences with ADHD and gender non-conformity and embraces work that is tonally ambivalent or seemingly 'incomplete' as a sort of queer disability-led praxis.
